A seminar was held in the conference hall of the National Red Crescent ociety of Turkmenistan, the main topic of which was measures corresponding to international standards to respond to emergency situations in case of mass arrival of refugees.

The seminar was organized within the framework of the joint work plan of the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) for 2023, which includes a number of measures to support Turkmenistan's efforts to improve the asylum system, as well as to reduce and prevent statelessness.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the State Migration Service, the State Border Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, the National Red Crescent Society, the NGO "Keyik Okara", the Office of the Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations, UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), IOM, OHCHR, UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, UNHCR.

The seminar program covers a wide range of topics necessary for effective management of refugee emergencies, including key principles of international protection, risk analysis and monitoring, as well as mechanisms for global humanitarian coordination. The seminar also became a platform for the exchange of ideas, strategies and experience gained during emergency response and coordination of stakeholders and their efforts among participants.
