From August 5 to 7, 2026, a practical workshop focused on strengthening response capacity and population protection during emergencies was held in Turkmenistan. The event was organized under a joint partnership of key international agencies: UNICEF, UNHCR, UNFPA, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The main objective of the three-day training was to build a shared understanding of humanitarian principles, modern protection standards, and practical mechanisms for multi-sectoral crisis response. Experts placed special emphasis on ensuring the safety of the most vulnerable groups, particularly child protection and mitigating specific risks during emergencies.

Key Outcomes and Areas of Work:

• Humanitarian Standards: Participants reviewed obligations regarding safety, human rights, and compliance with international standards during disaster response.
• Child and Vulnerable Group Protection: The workshop provided practical tools for preventing violence and family separation, as well as delivering psychosocial support to minors in emergency settings.
• Inter-Agency Coordination: Representatives from national authorities and international organizations practiced mechanisms for rapid information sharing and joint action.
• Practical Skills: Through simulation exercises, attendees reinforced action algorithms for multi-sectoral teams across various disaster scenarios.

This workshop served as an important step in reinforcing Turkmenistan's national disaster preparedness system, ensuring robust protection for all segments of the population.
