The head of the Akhal velayat branch of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, together with a representative of the Ak Bugday etrap and specialists from the Central Library of the Ak Bugday etrap, held an informational and educational event on the topic “Heroes are not forgotten.” Thanks to the efforts of our esteemed President, Victory Day, celebrated in our Independent, Permanently Neutral State of Turkmenistan, has taken a firm place in our national calendar as a date calling on all the peoples of the Earth to peace, friendship and goodwill. Therefore, today in our sovereign state the people remember our compatriots who showed courage on the battlefield and on the labor front, and bow their heads before their feat. In this war, together with other fraternal nations, the brave sons and daughters of our people courageously endured the hardships of war and gave their lives, defending their beloved Motherland. They showed an example of courage, fearlessness and true patriotism in the battles for peace, peaceful and prosperous life on Earth. Thanks to the humane policy of our esteemed President, in Independent, Eternally Neutral Turkmenistan, the unparalleled heroism demonstrated in battle by participants in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 is treated with great respect and honor, as well as the exemplary courage of our gray-haired mothers who worked in the rear during the war years and the wives of those who died in the war.Today, with the great humanity of our Esteemed President, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, valuable gifts presented to glorious veterans, war participants, spouses of soldiers who died in war and home front workers. Let the life of our Hero Arkadag and our Hero Arkadagly Serdar, who are leading our country to new heights of development, be healthy, let their noble heads be safe, let their honor be exalted, and let their great deeds, done for the happiness of our people and the well-being of our country, be successful.

THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES

– Humanity

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance
without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and
national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose
is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual
understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.

– Impartiality

It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It
endeavors to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give
priority to the most urgent cases of distress.

– Neutrality

In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or
engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.

– Independence

The Movement is independent. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services
of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain
their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the
Movement.

– Voluntary service

It is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain.

– Unity

There can be only one Red Cross or one Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open
to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory.

– Universality

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status
and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.
