The National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan has signed Memorandums of Understanding with the Qatar Red Crescent Society and the Russian Red Cross. The signing took place during a two-day meeting in Ashgabat, which brought together leaders of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies from CIS countries, as well as representatives of the International Federation and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Ebrahim Hashim Al-Sada, Vice President of the Qatar Red Crescent Society, noted that the agreement will help foster cooperation in the areas of volunteering and knowledge exchange, leveraging Qatar’s humanitarian experience in the Middle East and beyond.

Pavel Savchuk, Chairman of the Russian Red Cross, emphasized that the signed memorandum would provide additional momentum for strengthening bilateral cooperation. He also expressed readiness to send specialists to train Turkmen colleagues in operating mobile units and field tents.

Participants of the two-day meeting discussed emergency response, international humanitarian law, volunteer engagement, and legislative frameworks governing the work of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.

The event was held ahead of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, further underscoring the significance of the agreements reached.
